Thought......
What is the purpose of life?
Wow! That's a big question. I have been hearing this question asked over and over on a current LifeTime Christmas Show advertisement. The woman is asking the man, "What is the purpose of life?" The man answers, "To be happy." She answers along the lines of, "No, it is to make a difference." I actually watched this Christmas show last weekend with my Dad and my uncle. It was about a business man who was so wrapped up in making his money that he lost sight of all things around him. It is a pretty common Christmas theme we see, but what was interesting is he got involved with a homeless shelter and ended up creating a choir of homeless men and took them out into the public to help them create income. I guess it is a true story. They even have a CD out now.
What intrigued me about this movie was that he started out just offering the shelter money, thinking that would take care of his hidden desire to do more. But what he realized is that his heart was crying for action and involvement as well. He received blessings one hundred fold by offering not only his money, but time.
How easy is it for us to throw money in a pot or offering plate or donate food or toys. How much harder it is for us to offer our time.
I believe the greatest kind of love we can show to others is through actions and deeds done when inconvenienced. It isn't hard to offer things that are not a sacrifice. What makes our actions so much more of a blessing is when we stop doing what blesses us and do something that blesses someone else.
Make a difference today .....
- Do something "extra" to show your spouse you love them today. Something that doesn't come easy.
- Stop what you are doing (watching T.V., doing laundry, playing on the computer, working, etc.) and play a game with your kids or listen, listen to a story they want to tell you or tell them a story, shoot some hoops, play house. Do this when you really don't want to.
- Is your neighbor working outside? Unloading their groceries? Walk over an offer to help them. Shovel their driveway or walkway on a snowy day. Baked some cookies? Bake an extra batch for a neighbor.
- Know someone at work that is having financial difficulty? Slip a $5, or $10, or $20 in their desk drawer. More, if you have it.
- Know a single mom or dad? Offer to watch their kids for a night. Offer to come and help them do a project at home. Take them a meal or two.
- Ever walk past someone who looks like they have the weight of the world on their shoulder? Offer them a smile or warm greeting.
When we take our eyes off of ourselves the world becomes bigger and life becomes richer and filled with blessings. Try it, you'll like it!
So, what is the purpose of life? To make a difference. Let's start today. God created us each with a purpose. Make sure you are carrying out that purpose and make a difference today.

Appetizer Meatballs in a Crockpot
My favorite EASY Appetizer to take to parties
Cook Time: 5 hours
Ingredients:
* 1 bag Frozen Meatballs
* 1 jar Chili Sauce
* 1 jar Grape or Current Jelly
* 1 small bottle of Ketchup
* 2 dashes Red Pepper Seasoning (You may omit this if you don't like a bite)
Preparation:
Combine all ingredients and let them warm. The wonderful scent will fill your home.
